Upgrading your phone or shopping for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for your sweetheart? If so, you might be checking out Samsung’s Galaxy Note series smartphone.
The upcoming Galaxy Note 10 is expected to be a big release (literally). However, if you can’t afford to wait for Sammy’s next phablet or you just want to get the best bang for your buck, the Galaxy Note 9 is still a solid pick.
Currently, Samsung has the unlocked Galaxy Note 9 $999.99. Don’t want to shell out all that cash up front? You’ll save $150 when you buy the device from Samsung direct and activate it on AT&T, Sprint or Verizon. That lowers the cost of the Note 9 down to $849.99. Activate it on T-Mobile or U.S. Cellular and you’ll pay $949.99 ($50 off).
Here’s a look at other ways you can get the Galaxy Note 9 on the cheap.
Amazon is offering the unlocked Note 9 for $845. That’s $155 off and the best price we could find for this unlocked phone. (Other colors cost a few bucks more).
In addition to the carrier discounts available on Samsung’s website, the phone manufacturer also lets you trade-in a phone to reap even more savings. Samsung offers up to $300 in trade-in value depending on the phone you have to offer. (Newer devices fetch a better return.)
Best Buy is selling the Note 9 for $849.99 unlocked which is $150 off its normal selling price. It’s also offering bigger savings when you buy a carrier-tied version of the phone and pay for it in monthly installments. Buy the Verizon Note 9 at Best Buy and you’ll pay $35.41 a month over 24 months. That adds up to $150 in savings over the life of the payments. AT&T customers will pay $33.34 over 30 months.
The savings are bigger at Sprint, where Best Buy will charge you $20 a month for the Note 9 over 24 months. That adds up to $520 in savings.
Open a new line of service at Sprint, and you can enjoy some savings on an 18-month Sprint Flex lease for the Note 9. Sprint will charge just $20 a month, instead of the normal $41.67 rate. You can upgrade to a new phone after 12 months.
Need two Note 9 devices? Buy one Note 9 at AT&T and get a $790 credit toward the purchase of a second Note 9.
For a limited time, Verizon is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a BOGO deal. Big Red is giving you two ways to save on the purchase of your new Galaxy phone. Get a free Galaxy S9 when you buy and activate a Galaxy Note 9. Alternatively, you can take $800 off the purchase of any other Galaxy S9+ or Galaxy Note 9. The savings show up as monthly bill credits of 33.33/mo for 24 months. A new line of service is required to take advantage of this deal.
Purchase the Galaxy Note 9 from the Un-carrier network and they will give you up to $360. You must trade in an eligible device to receive a one-time credit followed by monthly bill credits for the remainder. Eligible phones for trade-in include various models from the Note 4 to the original iPhone 5c. Just keep in mind that T-Mobile requires a $250 down payment with the purchase of the Note 9 on an installment plan. (You’ll pay $20.84 a month over 36 months after that.)
