Kids Love These Volume-Limiting Headphones That Protect Young Ears

We’ve previously posted deals on the Puro BT2200 kids Bluetooth headphones that brought them to $60 or $70 (they’re normally $100), but their current $50 price is the lowest we’ve seen. These headphones are the top pick in our guide to the best kids headphones. Also half off are the PuroQuiet over-ear active noise-cancelling headphones, which are not an official Wirecutter pick due to their high $200 regular price but are worth considering at $100.

To find the best headphones for kids, our testers had two primary criteria: safe volume levels and designs that kids actually liked enough to wear. In both respects, the Puro BT2200 came out on top. According to our review, “The wireless design is also handy for avoiding tangles, a favorite feature of our big-kid panelists. The size and weight fit kids from 2½ to 11 years comfortably, so you can buy these headphones once and they’ll grow with your child, and they are sturdy enough that they should last a long time, too. In fact, we long-term tested these headphones with several kids, including on cross-country flights, and all of our test pairs are still doing just fine.”

As for the noise-cancelling version, we liked everything about that pair but the price. In our review we say, “The PuroQuiet headphones fit just as well, are just as sturdy, and measure acceptably within safe limits. The noise cancelling is actually effective, especially for airplane noise. However, we believe that the $200 asking price is more than most families are willing to spend for kids headphones. If you travel a ton and don’t mind the expense, the PuroQuiet headphones are the only active noise-cancelling headphones for kids that we are aware of, and we are comfortable recommending them for those who can afford the asking price.”
