Two of Our Favorite Air Purifiers Are Heavily Discounted

Just in time for allergy season, two air purifiers we recommend have both been discounted to the lowest prices I’ve seen in years. The Coway AP-1512HH Mighty is the top pick in our guide to the best air purifier and typically sells for just over $200, but you can grab it for $162 right now. If you need a filter that can cover a larger space, our upgrade pick, the Coway Airmega 400, usually goes for around $580 but is $362 currently.

Before ordering one of your own, it’s important to understand what an air purifier can and can’t do. In our review, senior staff writer Tim Heffernan writes that “air purifier owners offer extensive, almost universal testimony that the machines improve their sleep, reduce their allergies, and/or lessen their asthma symptoms.” However, the HEPA filters in the Coway AP-1512HH Mighty and the Airmega 400 won’t help with larger allergens such as dust mites and pet hair. And if you’re thinking of getting one to help with smoke from wildfires in your area, there’s more you should know.

The Coway AP-1512HH is rated for a room of 350 square feet, roughly the size of a large living room. It has been our top pick for five years running, and given the cost of replacement filters and energy consumption, it’s the cheapest to own long term of the models we’ve tested. Meanwhile, in our testing the Coway Airmega 400 “reduced particulate pollution by more than 98 percent in a 600-square-foot space, and it can cycle all of the air in a 770-square-foot space four times per hour, or nearly twice what the Coway AP-1512HH Mighty can do in that space and time frame.” Our testers also appreciated its sleek design, but overall it’s simply more than most people need.
